Starting point

Measurements such as dose, brew time and beverage weight are easy to write down. The harder part is understanding which change will actually improve the taste. I wanted to store more than isolated shots: I wanted to make relationships visible and learn from previous extractions.

From personal tool to app

What started as a solution for my own espresso setup became Coffee Rings. The app connects measurements, tasting impressions and concrete next steps. It helps evaluate shots systematically, keep recipes and make changes traceable.

What Coffee Rings solves

Coffee Rings documents measurements and tasting impressions so changes between two shots remain understandable. Instead of only collecting data, the app helps determine the next useful step, save recipes and learn from previous shots.

Principles behind the project

  • Understandable decisions instead of data collection for its own sake.
  • No account required.
  • Core features can be used offline.
  • The app is ad-free.
  • AI support is optional.
  • No unnecessary complexity in the daily workflow.
  • Useful for beginners and experienced users.
  • Free access to core features.

A short technical note

Coffee Rings is available through its official product website, the Apple App Store and Google Play. Core features can be used without an account and offline. The app is ad-free; optional AI support is intended to support understandable decisions, not replace them.
